Attention Parents of 1st-5th Graders

Hello Parents,

GBCKidz is making a transition on Sunday mornings! With prayer and planning, I believe God is growing our ministry to new levels.
Here at the GBC, we believe learning about the Bible doesn’t have to be boring, therefore we want to teach the Bible in a creative and relative way. We also value children’s relationships within a group setting as they relate to their leader and other children within the group.    We feel as children are placed in a group of familiar faces their relationships can grow!

We currently have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders meeting together in the Zone and 4th and 5th graders meeting together as WIRED.  Beginning Sunday, April 7, we are combining all of these kiddos into one group.  The morning will kick off with our own worship time utilizing our own sound and graphics.  This will be done on the kids level encouraging them to express themselves in a way that would make Jesus proud.

This will lead to our lesson that is coming via a new video-based curriculum with a teacher doing the leading.  The Bible is exciting and amazing and we will strive to bring its stories to life through activities and discussions that keep children engaged. We want all children to love God’s word and understand the value of applying it to their lives.
This will lead to breakout sessions into smaller groups where will our leaders will encourage participation.

I believe having our 1st – 5th graders meet together is going to have several benefits for our kids.  It is my experience that our older kids are awesome, intelligent, caring kids that can mentor our younger ones and set the good example.  I also believe that the large group experience will be a great fun time of fellowship for our kids.

Small groups will continue to meet on Wednesday nights just as they have been.  Kids Connection (1st-3rd) and WIRED (4th-5th) will still meet at 6:00p.m. followed by Kids Praise at 6:45.
If you having any questions or concerns about these upcoming changes, please feel free to contact me at church.

Kids love fun! We realize that when children have fun at church, they can’t wait to come back.

Love-Grow-Serve,
Robin

New Year's Non-Resolutions

How many of us have made New Year's Resolutions?  How many of us have successfully kept the changes resolved?  Let's look at Ephesians 2:8-9, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast."  We are saved by God's grace  (His unmerited favor).  We do not earn it.  We can't buy it.  We do not get it because of who we are.  We just receive it.

God loves us so much!  We are His masterpiece (Eph. 2:10).  After thinking on this, I want to ask all the volunteers for Children's Ministry to write a "non-resolution" for this coming year based on Eph. 2:8-9.  This non-resolution needs to be grace-filled.  For example, "I resolve NOT to worry about being the perfect parent or Sunday School teacher."

New beginnings are great, especially because of God's amazing grace!

Happy New Year!  Hold on tight!  2013 is going to be AWESOME because of God's grace!

Christmas is in the air.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  I love that song!  Well, even though we don't see any of that white fluffy stuff falling from the sky, it sure feels like Christmas at the GBC.  Our Kids Praise had an AWESOME presentation of "The Christmas Cupcake".  They are receiving rave revues!  Thank you Ms. Heather, Ms. Michelle, Ms. Nette, Ms. Lisa, Chad and all the crew for a job well done!  Kids Praise you are AWESOME...totally!

Our GBCKIDZ are preparing to visit River Oaks residents next Sunday with a song in their hearts and presents in hand.  The kids have worked so hard making cards and wrapping gifts for our new friends.  Giving...it's what Christmas is all about!

Next Friday night, Kids Connection and WIRED kiddos are heading to the Inflatable Fun Factory in Evansville for the "Santa Experience".  Jumping, dancing, cookies with Santa and more jumping is what is in store.  I can't wait!  I believe I am more excited than the kids...:)

It sure is looking like Christmas here!  By the way, come join us for our Christmas service on Sunday, Dec. 23 at Gibson Southern High School at 10:00 a.m.  Simple Christmas...Jesus!

Merry Christmas!

Dates to Remember

Hey Parents!
Can you believe this year is almost over?  Christmas is just around the corner and our kids have been busy working on their River Oaks ministry project.  If you haven't already, please be sure and pick a card off of our angel tree in the upstairs foyer.  These cards have names of the residents we will be providing gifts for.  Also on the card is a list of needed items.  Before your kids bring in their gifts, please take a moment to pray over the gift and its recipient.  This is a great example for our kids to understand the gift of giving.

Here are some important dates to remember:

  •    Wednesday,  November 21   No Children's Ministries (Thanksgiving week)
  •    Wednesday, November 28   Last Day for Kids Connection and WIRED to meet for the year.
  •    Sunday, November 25  Final collection day of gifts for the River Oaks residents
  •    Sunday, December 9  KIDS PRAISE play @ 6:30
  •    Sunday, December 23  Service GSHS @ 10:00 Nurseries only.  No Children's Ministries-Worship    with your family.
  •    Sunday, December 30 One service @ 10:00  Nurseries only.

Before we start the Christmas season, let's enjoy Thanksgiving.  I pray that you and your family will take a moment to reflect on your blessings and thank God for all He has done and is doing in your family's life.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Ms. Robin

VBS 2012 IS ALMOST HERE!

Hey GBC folks!  My goodness!  We are 4 days away from  VBS week @ FBCS!  Can you tell that I am so stoked and ready for this AWESOME week?  The VBS team and its volunteers have been eagerly working to get everything ready for our kids next week.  What an AWESOME team of volunteers we have this year (most we have ever had)!

Just some quick reminders for our volunteers.

  • Everyone involved with with VBS needs to report to FBCS Sat. @ 9:00 for a quick run through. No excuses guys!  We need to make sure we are prepared and pumped for all the kiddos coming Monday morning.  The safety of our kids is in our hands.
  • Remember one service on Sunday @ FBCS.  (Don't forget to wear your VBS shirts.)  The service is going to rock!!!!
  • Nurseries will be provided for birth-3yrs.  All other kids will be in service.
  • Get plenty of rest Sunday evening so you will be refreshed and ready for Monday morning.
  • Don't forget...all volunteers are to be at the school Monday morning by 8:00 a.m. Set those alarms :)
  • Tuesday through Friday be @ school no later than 8:15.  I will count you tardy! :(

Prayers have been going up for this huge ministry outreach.  God has opened the door for the GBC to make a strong impact on this community.  We are all about community...lets reach people for Christ!  Found People Find People.
