Do you remember as a child having leg aches or arm aches? You know, where you kind of cramped all over? Then when you questioned your Mom about this mysterious pain she replied, "Oh, those are just growing pains." I don't know about you, but I sure remember those pains. I found it hard to do my normal bike riding and climbing trees because of these changes in my growth.
Change in any form, doesn't come easy or without some discomfort. As we have experienced our first full Sunday with its new changes in Sunday School and worship services, we felt some growing pains. We might have felt some discomfort in these new changes...experienced some new territory that maybe was unsettling to us as well as uncomfortable. However, it is a fact that with growth comes some aspect of change and with change, discomfort.
With the type of growth our Church is looking for, that is to be obedient to the call God has placed on this Church to build His Kingdom, it demands CHANGE. It requires us as the Body to "get out of the boat" of our own comfort zone and do as God has asked us. Does this mean some discomfort and sacrifice on our part? Most definitely! As much as our Father in Heaven does for us each day, how can we not accept our growing pains with love, patience and endurance!
As a member of the Body of Christ, I was excited as well as honored this last Sunday to be a part of growth in the Kingdom of God, no matter the sacrifice. When asked, "What does the Church hope to gain from all these new changes, as a member I would respond boldly, "Souls!".
I hope that we can encourage one another and build each other up during these growing pains we are in the mist of . Let us approach these changes with a positive outlook and observe our God doing His work in this Church!
Be Blessed!
