What would it look like? What would be on your priority list? I am posing this question because as your Children's Pastor, I value your opinion. As a parent myself, I know what is important to me when bringing my kids to church. Fun, flexibility, communication and partnership come to mind. The GBC is about family. Our children are our Now and our Future. We as a church, are committed to the investment of the spirituality of our children.

With this being said, I am opening the floor up for your opinions. I want to hear from you. Now, understand I am looking for feedback not criticism of our children's ministry. Help me to help make our Children's Ministry GREAT. Looking forward to the influx of your creative ideas.

Send comments to gbcchildren@gmail.com

Pastor Rez

GBC Kidz News

Hey Parents! Its actually FUN learning about the Bible in chronological order! It is Bible 101 with a twist...it is very FUN to learn! Ask your kids sometime about what they are learning. I guarantee you will be AMAZED!

DON'T FORGET!

This Saturday, Feb. 12, Kids Connection will have "Movie Night" from 6-8 p.m. down in the Zone. I did this Sunday. I used the analogy of the glass being half full versus being half empty. This is a great way to explain our attitude towards how we view our current circumstances, whether good or bad. However, to an 11year old child, bad circumstances just STINK!

Eventually, my perfect analogy caught on with this young one. But not without some trepidation. Our attitude, actions and words can be the determining factor on how we view disappointments or unpleasant situations. Children learn how to react by watching their parents first, then their peers. Our kids are "little versions" of their parents. When you see how a child reacts to something they don't like, you are actually seeing a reflection of how they are being raised.

Parents, it is very important that we set a good example in our attitude, actions and words on a daily basis. For when you see your child react, you are actually looking in a mirror. Be ever aware of how you handle situations as well as how you view life...the glass half empty or half full.

What an AMAZING Sunday!

I love this Scripture found in Matthew 19:14 where Jesus says, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." And boy did they come! Four children came forward to be baptized on Sunday! All of Heaven was rejoicing as was everyone @thegbc! These four children were so filled with the love and willingness to give their lives fully (what is full for someone their age) to Christ that is was awesome! In fact, their zeal was contagious! I believe it was infectious throughout the whole church!
Oh what we can learn from our young ones. They are so genuine...authentic. I truly believe what Jesus said in Matthew 18:3, "...unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." We all need to change and be authentic like little children. Remember, don't look down on one of our little ones. They have a lot to teach us.

WOW 2011

WOW! I can't believe it is Jan. 3, 2011! I am so excited about this new year! GBC Kidz had an awesome 2010 and we are planning for an even more exciting 2011. Our ministry has experienced a growth spurt...we may have to "enlarge our tent and not hold back". (Isaiah 54:2). We are seeing more children give their lives to Christ AND growing in their faith walk. Kids are very important to the GBC. We believe in bringing up the next generation to faithfully love, grow and serve in the church.

Fun and exciting activities are planned for our kids this year. Kids Connection (grades 1-5) will have an outing each month...watch the calendar for details. Also, new curriculum is being introduced in our Wednesday night Kids Connection, "What's In The Bible". A video based teaching that is fun and full of solid Bible teaching.

For all our New Christians, we will have our "I'm a Christian Now" class every Sunday in the month of February at 9:00. The homecoming of one of God's faithful servants into Heaven brought sadness, yet also brought joy for healing came. The church was rejoicing! Several gave their life to Christ and experieced a "rebirth". The church was rejoicing!

The circle of Life is so sweet when you belong to the Most High God. You know, where you kind of cramped all over? Then when you questioned your Mom about this mysterious pain she replied, "Oh, those are just growing pains." I don't know about you, but I sure remember those pains. I found it hard to do my normal bike riding and climbing trees because of these changes in my growth.

Change in any form, doesn't come easy or without some discomfort. As we have experienced our first full Sunday with its new changes in Sunday School and worship services, we felt some growing pains. We might have felt some discomfort in these new changes...experienced some new territory that maybe was unsettling to us as well as uncomfortable. However, it is a fact that with growth comes some aspect of change and with change, discomfort.

With the type of growth our Church is looking for, that is to be obedient to the call God has placed on this Church to build His Kingdom, it demands CHANGE. It requires us as the Body to "get out of the boat" of our own comfort zone and do as God has asked us. Does this mean some discomfort and sacrifice on our part? Most definitely! As much as our Father in Heaven does for us each day, how can we not accept our growing pains with love, patience and endurance!

As a member of the Body of Christ, I was excited as well as honored this last Sunday to be a part of growth in the Kingdom of God, no matter the sacrifice. When asked, "What does the Church hope to gain from all these new changes, as a member I would respond boldly, "Souls!".

I hope that we can encourage one another and build each other up during these growing pains we are in the mist of . Let us approach these changes with a positive outlook and observe our God doing His work in this Church!

Be Blessed!

Child-like faith

Tuesday, I watched my two girls play softball out in the front yard. It was an unusually warm day for March and my girls were taking advantage of its gift. As I watched them play in their carefree way, it was as if in their minds nothing in the world was wrong. Life was good. They were not worried about the economy, the stock market or job layoffs. They were doing what kids do best...living for the moment, trusting that their parents had everything under control and that all their needs would be met. What a true example of trust and faith. Kids are so genuine in their faith. They have no inhibitions. This is what we call childlike faith. They have complete faith in their caregivers-parents that all their needs will be supplied. There is no need to worry about the clothes they wear, the food they eat nor the home they live in. It is provided. Does this sound familiar? It should because our "Heavenly Father" promises the same for all His children. All He asks of us is to believe and receive. We too can experience this carefree life with no inhibitions if we become like little children and humble ourselves before our Lord. We must exude childlike faith. In these uncertain times we are living in, we all need to hold on to the hope we have in Jesus Christ. Then and only then can we enjoy the everyday blessings that God has for us. Become like little children and come to your Heavenly parent and let Him meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus!
